Ethernet PHYs
Marvell continuously delivers the most advanced and complete PHY products to the infrastructure market. Marvell’s transceivers are utilized for a wide array of enterprise, carrier, small medium business, industrial and cloud data center applications.
Fast & Gigabit Ethernet
Marvell offers a comprehensive portfolio of Alaska® Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet PHY transceivers to address various Ethernet networking standards. These PHYs are built on Marvell’s legacy of providing unique, best-in-class features that enable customers to expand their Ethernet applications. With efficient design and a high-level of integration, Marvell’s PHYs bring low power dissipation, small form factor, high performance and advanced feature sets.
Marvell’s Gigabit Ethernet PHYs allow thermal-efficient packages for fan-less, heat-sink-less designs while the octal members of the Fast Ethernet PHY family lead the industry with the lowest power consumption, resulting in reduced fan requirements. Both PHY families feature Marvell’s Virtual Cable Tester® (VCT) technology, allowing IT managers and networking equipment manufacturers to analyze quickly and remotely the quality and attributes of the cable, avoiding unnecessary equipment returns and on-site service calls.
- Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) IEEE 802.3az for all supported data rates
- Integrated Marvell Virtual Cable Tester® (VCT) technology
- At least 170m reach at 1G
- 500m reach at 100M
- MACSec - Allows data encryption for layer 2 security (MP)
- 1588v2 - Support 1 and 2 step PTP
- SyncE - Synchronous Ethernet
Scalable mGig2.5G & mGig5G
Marvell’s Alaska family of mGig PHYs are designed to enable enterprises to quickly and cost-effectively migrate to mGig Ethernet networking infrastructure. Compatible with the NBASE-T Alliance specification for 2.5G and 5G data rate over Cat5e cables, Marvell’s mGig PHYs offer high performance, design simplicity and extremely low-power dissipation. The devices use DSP technology to enable the repurposing of low-cost CAT5e Ethernet cables for data rates as high as 5Gbps, supplanting the use of optical technology for applications such as 802.11ac access point backhaul, switches, servers, workstations and high-end PCs. The devices support CAT 6 and CAT6a type cables, as well as Category 5e type cables for distances up to 100m.
- Compliant with NBASE-T Alliance specifications for 2.5G and 5G modes
- Superior EMI Mitigation - both Fast Retrain and Common Mode Sense implemented
- Auto Media Detect - Allows one device to act as an Optical (SFI) or Base-T PHY
- 802.11ax and 802.11ac Wave 2 Access Point backhaul
- 10BASE-T legacy support
Scalable mGig10G
With a wide variety of copper (Base-T) and fiber/backplane PHYs to support 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) applications, Marvell’s PHYs bring high-speed data transfer capabilities that support the roll-out of new 802.11 standards for enterprise networking. Available in a variety of port options, Marvell’s 10 GbE PHYs enable broad-based market adoption of 10 GbE network connectivity over Cat 6a cabling. The Marvell 10 GbE PHY family boasts devices with the industry’s lowest power, highest performance and smallest form factor for solutions of its kind and integrates features such as Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), PTP/1588v2, Sync-E, MACsec, and support of all PoE standards up to 100W.
